Thermography A practical approach
The IR camera provides unlimited possibilities to examine load and fault states at a distance for an almost infinite range of applications. As variations and faults in a process results in changes in heat patterns, the IR camera can be used to search for and detect emerging faults before a failure occurs.
New applications and uses are constantly emerging. As the camera development has been explosive for the past ten years with regards to performance, size, cost and software, the technology is now mature enough and economically justifiable for use in fields previously unimaginable.
However, a certain amount of proficiency is required of the camera operator. One can't point the camera at the object and believe that everything becomes visible and understandable on the camera display. In order to perform a thermographic inspection correctly, a solid understanding of the matter is required of the operator.
The book is composed of six chapters:
- Introduction. A short introduction to the subject.
- Thermodynamics. An overview of basic thermodynamics.
- The IR-Camera. The basics of the IR-camera's functions.
- Measurement Methodology. Introduces a more structured way to work.
- Applications. Examples of practical measurements in industrial environments.
- Reports. A closer look on how to write reports with the QuickReport software.
The book is aimed at thermography novices who need to learn the basics in thermography.
